Video Tutorial - How to Root, Install Recovery, and Install Custom ROMs on LG Optimus T / One

In order to supplement my previous blog post where I provided general information and links on how to root, install a custom recovery, install a custom ROM, and overclock your LG Optimus T / One, I have created two new videos. Please use this video in conjunction with my previous blog post (http://tablet-crunch.blogspot.com/2011/01/lg-optimus-t-rooting-recovery-rom.html). Please do this at your own risk as there is the possibility of bricking your phone (damaging it). I am NOT an expert or a developer, just someone who struggled through this process and thought people could really benefit from a more clear and concise guide on how to do this (instead of random information from different sources that is hard to follow). If you have problems or comments PLEASE post them in this blog and go to the XDA developers forum and search/post there!

  5. I installed the kernel and my phone still wont go to 864mhz without freezing. Did i do something wrong?

  6. Hey man, the only thing you did wrong was miss some of the fine print. The kernel ALLOWS you to set the clock speed up to 864 mhz, but it doesn't make it stable. I have mine set to 806 mhz, with a minimum of 245 mhz (using setcpu I bought from the market). I tried setting mine up to 825 mhz and was actually able to use it for a few days without any problems, but I started getting random freezes when playing the game Pocket Legends. I have since then clocked it back to 806 mhz and that is where I stay because it's nice and stable for me.

I would recommend 806 mhz, and if you are feeling lucky you can try 825 mhz, but I would not go higher than 825 mhz. Also do NOT click setcpu to set the frequency on boot, you want to do that manually each time you start up your phone. That way you don't get into an unstable boot loop. Remember that even though each phone has the 'same' hardware, each chip is slightly different and can handle different overclocks. Some phones can'y handle 806 mhz, but then some phones can handle 825 mhz.

  8. The standard ones seem to be "linpack", "Neocore", and "Quadrant Standard".

You can search for those on the market and they are free. I am getting around 9 or so on linpack, around 1150-1350 on quadrant, and around 50 fps on neocore.

If you take a look at my other blog post I put up my numbers before and after (stock rom from LG, and then with all of these tweaks) and it's a big difference!

  9. Great post Eric. I don't have any Class-4 micro SD cards on hand. Did you personally use a C4 or the stock SD card that came with your Optimus T (presumably a C2)?

  20. When I try to execute flash_image through terminal I get an error saying it isn't found. I tried installing Clockwork recovery to do it that way but it wouldn't take megatron afterwards.

    Any ideas?

  21. 2 anons with SU problems. YOU DIDNT ROOT YOUR PHONE!!!!!
    go back to step one!

Let's make it happen- flash_image needs to be in the root directory of your SD card, i.e. NOT in a folder and NOT zipped up
